Honor Bound: Book Review

BOOK BY: Hallee Bridgeman

What an intense read!

A covert military team is sent to Africa to pull out a missionary doctor from the middle of a warlord-occupied territory – the catch? She’s the daughter of the Vice President of the US.

This is the first time I’ve read a romantic suspense read full of details in how these special forces teams operate. The narrative pulled me in right from the first page and kept me glued to the pages until the end, even with all the military lingo. It was a fascinating learning experience that provided an equally fascinating reading experience.

Each character brought the story to life, making me care about what happened to them.

The violence depicted here is reflective of the mission and gives readers an insight as to what happens inside war zones. Cynthia, the heroine, has to reconcile her Christian beliefs with the reality of war and the role of soldiers who keep us safe.

The relationship that the special ops team has with each other is strong and one can see how they truly form a family.

There is violence, shoot-outs, and lots of bloodshed that is appropriate for the story. The aftermath of the mission causes a lot of heartache, emotional struggles and physical debilitations. But there’s a hopeful message threaded throughout the pages, which makes this Christian fiction a thought-provoking read.

I received an ecopy from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions expressed are my own.
