The Bitter End Birding Society: Book Review

BOOK BY: Amanda Cox

Book cover The Bitter End Birding Society by Amanda Cox. Pastel pink with a pastel yellow sun. A branch with three blue birds sitting on it. purple leaves and flowers.

Once again, Amanda Cox writes a stellar story of second chances and family secrets. This soul-searching story digs deep as characters wrestle with grief, inadequacy, and forgiving themselves and others. It’s such a beautiful story that seamlessly weaves the past and present into an emotional read, leaving readers with a hope-filled message at the end.

Ana needs an escape as staying strong for her kindergarten class after a tragedy experienced together is too much. She hopes spending time with a long-lost aunt will give her the reprieve and connection to family she desires. What she uncovers about her family’s history is a shocking tale of moonshiner’s daughter and pastor’s son.

Sam is trying his best to forget his mistakes, and leave the life of a pastor behind. When Ana arrives, in need of pastoral care, his pastor’s heart can’t resist.

I really love how all the characters included in both the present and past timelines are hurting, in need of something that others can help with. And what a beautiful ending! Made me reach for my tissues…

This is a book you don’t want to miss!
