Shadows at Dusk (Missing in Alaska 2): Book Review

BOOK BY: Elizabeth Goddard

What an excellent addition to the Missing in Alaska series by Elizabeth Goddard.

I loved that the pace was a bit slower in this story, still full of suspenseful moments, but it focused more on the mystery than on heart-pumping suspense that she’s known for.

Nevertheless, this is an engrossing story with some crazy intense scenes.

Detective Trevor West heads to Alaska to search for his sister who has been missing for a year. Bush pilot Carrie James is hiding from her own past in the wilderness of Alaska. Two seemingly disconnected cases send Carrie and Trevor on a trek around Southeast Alaska to search for a missing woman and the man who had killed Carrie’s close friend.

As always, Elizabeth Goddard creates a compelling story with magnificent scenery, detailed plot lines and emotional layers that draw readers in.

I loved how Carrie and Trevor’s relationship played out. Both broken from the past. Both with trust issues. But the situations they’re thrown into create a bond that isn’t easily broken. They keep having to rescue each other and I think that’s what makes this story unique in the series. And there’s a strong faith thread for both characters – even though they’ve both been hurt, their faith in God is still evident.

I can’t wait for the third book to be published!

I received a copy of the book from the publisher. All opinions expressed are my own.
