Malicious Intent (Defend and Protect 2): Book Review

BOOK BY: Lynn H. Blackburn

A solid second chance romance with a bit of mystery and a sprinkle of suspense makes this second book in Lynn H. Blackburn’s Defend and Protect an engaging read. There are plenty of characters to protect Dr. Ivy Collins from someone who wants to stake claim to a secret stash of cash – and there are just as many suspects as there are law enforcement.

The romance takes front and center place, the mystery is secondary. But it’s the mystery that throws the hero and heroine together again after fifteen years apart.

There are some pretty intense moments, acknowledging Ivy’s need for a protection detail. Readers are given a break from continuous suspense, allowing the romance time to develop, along with new friendships between Ivy and her protectors.

This book can be read as a standalone, though there are relationships developed in the previous book that would be helpful to know beforehand. I didn’t read the first book, so I found myself trying to figure out the relationships between the protective detail. By the middle of the book, it didn’t take as much effort.

I received an ecopy from the publisher. All opinions expressed are my own.
