A Winter of Sweet Secrets: Book Review

BOOK BY: Heidi McCahan

Book cover of A Winter of Sweet Secrets. Cartoon graphic. Blue sky with snowflakes, backs of a couple walking with a little girl between them. Snow covered trees.

Fans of books set in Alaska with all the hallmarks of a wintery feel-good story will love Heidi McCahan’s newest release, A Winter of Sweet Secrets.

Jovi is a sunshiney character in need of a change. Reeling from a broken engagement, traveling nurse Jovi Wright is ready for her next contract. When her older sister, Isabel calls for help, Jovi jumps on the next plane to Alaska to help rescue the family’s chocolate business.

Burke Solomon is grieving the loss of his wife and infant son, while coming up empty for his next contracted book. In need of a change, Burke moves to Evergreen, Alaska, living in his aunt’s home with his young daughter.

I love how these two characters meet – it reminds me of Debbie Macomber’s Dashing through the Snow (minus the FBI chase). AND I love how a family feud goes back generations, making it next to impossible for these two to move forward with any kind of relationship. Darby Jane, Burke’s daughter adds that extra bit of charm to a perfect wintry read.

This book has all the feel-good vibes with a bit of drama that any squeaky-clean romance readers will enjoy.

I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions expressed are my own.
