I’m happy to be back with our monthly series celebrating debut authors who released books in 2020 and early 2021. And I’m super excited to celebrate today’s special guest author, Amanda Cox. I was blessed to read an ARC (advanced reader copy) of her debut, The Edge of Belonging. I could NOT. PUT. IT. DOWN. She’s definitely made my automatic buy author list, and I’m sure if you read her books, she’ll be added to your list too.
So without further ado, let’s celebrate Amanda Cox!

DEBUT RELEASE TITLE: The Edge of Belonging
DEBUT RELEASE DATE: September 8, 2020
When Ivy Rose returns to her hometown to oversee an estate sale, she soon discovers that her grandmother left behind more than trinkets and photo frames–she provided a path to the truth behind Ivy’s adoption. Shocked, Ivy seeks clues to her past, but a key piece to the mystery is missing.
Twenty-four years earlier, Harvey James finds an abandoned newborn who gives him a sense of human connection for the first time in his life. His desire to care for the baby runs up against the stark fact that he is homeless. When he becomes entwined with two people seeking to help him find his way, Harvey knows he must keep the baby a secret or risk losing the only person he’s ever loved.

ASKING AMANDA
What is the most challenging part for you, of the writing to publication process? The waiting! When I am writing I have a purpose and a goal in mind that I am constantly working toward, but after that book is finished, there comes a season of uncertainty regarding what will ultimately happen with this project that I dearly love. It might be waiting to hear back from an agent, or waiting for a book to get approval from various editorial and publication boards, or waiting to get edits back, no matter what part of publication the book is in, the waiting can be tough!
Are you a snacker when you write, and if so, what do you snack on? I am a snacker when I am in editing mode. I feel like a five-year-old, but I love Goldfish crackers when I edit.
What’s the next project you’re working on? My second book, The Secret Keepers of Old Depot Grocery, released yesterday, so I am in the thick of release time fun! It’s a story about three generations of women whose lives have revolved around their family store. When it seems apparent that the store will have to close due to the changing times, things from the past come to light, challenging all they’ve believed about one another. It is a story about mother-daughter relationships and the healing power of telling the truth.
Thanks, Amanda for stopping by!
I’m already halfway through release number two (I’m a fast reader…).
